Davao City hosts global convergence in 2013

An impressive line-up of world-renowned movers in the different spheres of society will be featured in the upcoming Liwanag World Festival on Creativity and Sustainability happening exactly a month from now. The Festival, taking place from January 29 to February 2, 2013 at the Philippine Women’s College of Davao, builds upon the outstanding achievements and reputation of the first two national Karangalan Conferences held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 2005 and 2006. Karangalan highlighted the global and national achievements of Filipinos in many areas of life. More than 5000 people, including visitors from other countries, attended these two conferences.
The Liwanag Festival is now taking this success, giving it a new context and making it relevant to the second decade of the 21st Century—providing groups and individuals a creative space and opportunity to come together and share solutions to societal problems confronting us such as climate change, poverty, conflict, unequal distribution of wealth, lack of access to quality and responsive education, lack of livelihood opportunities, inadequate shelter, poor physiological and psychological health, unsustainable development practices, cultural decline, apathy, cynicism, and more. As part of this process, the proponents decided to locate the Festival in Davao City, being a city that is moving towards sustainability, having great leadership and a good track record (e.g. known for its Gender Development Code, Children Welfare Code, Firecracker Ban, No Smoking Ordinance, our own 911 emergency system, among other trailblazing practices).
Some of the topics and speakers in Liwanag are:
“Global impact and message of the Occupy Wallstreet Movement” Seth Jordan, co-founder and co-initiator of Think Outward and Occupy Wallstreet
“Revolutionary Discoveries in the Science of the Heart and Its Relevance to Creativity and Societal Sustainability Bruce Cryer, Global Director of Heart Math Health Care, a technique created to help people decrease their stress levels and increase their quality of life.
“The New Story of the Universe and the Future of Humanity Barbara Max Hubbard, President, Foundation for Conscious Evolution
Alongside these guest speakers are Philippines’ own leaders: Maria Ressa, high profile journalist and CEO of Rappler, will elaborate on The Strategic Importance of Independent Media in Sustainable Societies. For civil society, the powerhouse group of Dr. Alyssa Peleo-Alampay, Geologist, Dr. Laura David, Oceanographer, and Dr. Cora Claudio, Environmental Scientist—members of Ten Outstanding Women in the Nations Service (TOWNS) Team on Climate Change will help participants gain a deeper understanding of Climate Change and its impact on humanity. For the economic sphere, Ms. Gina Lopez, Executive Director of ABS-CBN Foundation, will encourage participants to follow their example in Mobilizing Business to Defend Nature; Mr. Tony Meloto, Founder of GK-Center for Social Innovation will likewise share how they Reinvented Philippine Agriculture through Social Enterprise. For the cultural sphere, Surallah Mayor Romulo Solivio, with Sculptor-Artist Kublai Millan, will share their experience onGovernment and Civil Society partnerships for the Rebirth of Culture.
Most importantly, a multi-stakeholder panel from Bayawan City will present Character First: The Liwanag Anchor of Bayawan City's Journey to Sustainability. Bayawan City, two hours away from Dumaguete,  Negros Oriental, boasts the title of being a “Character City,” a member of the International Association of Character Cities and a pioneer Department of Health certified “Healthy City” in the Philippines. Recently, it was recognized by the Asian Institute of Management city as “one of the Top 10 Best Cities to Live In in the Philippines (Small Cities Category)” under its Competitive Cities Survey 2007.
With this festival, the proponents want to emphasize that creativity and sustainability initiatives are alive, healthy and well, not only in Davao City but also in other parts of the country, and, of course, the world. Aside from the plenary presentations, hundreds of pre-registered as well as spontaneous parallel creative workshops, performances and exhibits will be taking place during the entire week, featuring participating individuals and initiatives with inspiring and innovative solutions to current challenges; local, national and international artists such as Joey Ayala (who also composed and performed the official Liwanag Festival theme song); ritualists from different tribes of Mindanao; Bayang Barrios; the Talaandig Artists of Bukidnon; performing artist-activist Juana Change; Sampsa Pirtola from Europe; Hinuguyaw Cultral Dance Troupe; Kaliwat Theatre Collective; Madayaw Cultural Troupe; Bayanihan Dancers, and other surprise artists.

“Two faces of the Philippines, two faces of the world mirrored in two forms of life. On one side, dense darkness amidst suffering and strivings. But on the distant road ahead are pulsing balls of light, like torches blazing trails of Hope – initiatives of some groups of humans in vigil for the herald of a new tomorrow. Brothers and Sisters, Let us glory on these strivings to change the face of the World.”

-The essence of Liwanag Festival on Sustainability and Creativity, as captured in words by Davao-based Palanca awardee Don Pagusara

Anyway... me and my Imaginal friends in MISSION are organizing Liwanag World Festival on Creativity and Sustainability this coming January 29 to February 2, 2012. :)

To start the conversations of humanity..... let me ask this question:

What's the Rave?

Hulloh! How is everybody doing?

I've noticed that it seems like I am making a career out of posting a blogpost once a month!

My days are sometimes swarmed with activities that sometimes I just wanna head off the beach and go enjoy the waves while reading a book.

Last weekend, I attended the District Assembly of Rotaractors and Interactors here in Davao for District 3860. It went well. It's great that they invited Ms. Joji Ilagan Bian to be the guest speaker which proved to be very inspiring among students which composed a majority of the audience.

The recently concluded pre-Kadayawan event "Cycle For Life" and the "Dream Davao" exhibit at People's Park went well. Although with so little time to plan a week-long event we fell short of our expectations. Meaning there were more "something could've worked better" ideas than what we did. But, despite the many "firsts" and recent "learnings", one thing we gained at the event was having the bond. of just having known each other for a month to come together for a specific purpose of calling various individuals and organizations who wants to make Davao better. oh di ba? diretso field.

Photo: Sorry don't know who took this picture. Pls. contact me lang if this is yours and ill place the credit. thanks.

For RACMPD (Rotaract Club of Munting Pag-Asa Davao), we also had our first ever fundraising bazaar during Kadayawan. We were selling baked goodies and all proceeds will go to our club and mostly to support Kythe Foundation*.

But, Tina, you might ask... all work and no play? Of course not!

In between the busy-ness of many "for the world" events..... I managed to meet up with my College Buds and High School Chums....in between the events I am in (i invite them!) and also having separate get-togethers...

one during the birthday of my godson to which i am the fairy godmama! HAHAHA. and one of our friend is pregggy!!! another godson in the making. Vavavroooom!!

also our high school chum meet-up was simply that.... get together to talk about what's up with our own lives...

How about family??? Sometimes I managed to stay at home one day after the event... and sometimes i'd drag my brother and sister to help me out in the booth which they are supporting me with....and i'd help out with dad and mom with their recent garden... which i will post pictures of soon... :)

it's September.... and more life-changing events which i will impart soon!

With so much love,

Tina

P.S. HAPPPYYYY BIRTHDAY To my beloved Aunt... Aunt Tita!!!!!!!LOVE YOU!!!! She reads my blog.... most of the time. :)

taking a LEAP of FAITH

I would quote my Angel Snippets blog for this: "Life has a way of surprising you without really surprising you."

If the weekend of Earth was something short of magical what with the wedding of the century happening (and me missing out on the kiss at the balcony because I was in the workshop of my life.).... and also with the news that Osama died.... (a reason for mature reflection and some repose....)... my weekend was just beginning to unfold.......

It was as if some unmistakable divine force weaved it's awesome power and managed to pull me in with the flow and join POSIBLE+ LEAP 48.

I was reluctant during the last minute. I reserved my place last January but my fears got ahead of me and I didn't submit to the pre-coaching. But, in the end with pre-coaching or not, a little nudge from the Universe made me LEAP.

What made me join?

In the "embrazzo" of the FLEX Teens where my brother joined, the parents of teenagers convened (whom we really know well ganged up on me and my mom). They were saying: "Join LEAP!!! so that we are together... so that Davao will have a lot of representative."

Say: "Bye, Bye to your brain!" they would say over and over again. But, what struck me was.... Tito Leo Avila's question: "Look, we all have a vision and dream for Davao, right?"

And my heart jumped and it actually brought tears to my eyes. Yes, I have dreams for Davao... and here I am presented with an opportunity to make my life better and I am hesitating?

and so... I said: "yes". But, with a doubt... well.. mhmm not exactly that.. I was SCARED!!!!

with all my fabulous encouragement, my uplifting words..... i was merely projecting to my inner self.... because I AM SCARED! I have heart loaded with fears..... oh dear me!

Also.. the recent weekend made me realize a lot of things.... yes, I know a lot.... yes, I've read about things... and somehow with all the trainings I've had... I've become jaded. It's like: "yeah, yeah.... I know all of that."

But, then the weekend made me confront my inner fears.... and also my blockages. I was withholding love ... therefore I can't give anyone that yet.

I thought I have gone through the process of forgiveness already... but my heart still grieves. I just denied the whole thing.... oh dear... I made a shortcut to the game.. and now the game is trying to shortcut me. So... instead from now on.... I'm gonna be true to the game! Be more honest with how I am feeling... and be more in touch with myself....

But, now I found a community where I can be safe.... where the fear of being judged is non-existent.... where I can be myself... to my buddy Ate Claire, my Bizu council, my coaches (coach Bong and Coach Jic) and the rest of the coaches, to my POSIBLE+LEAP 48 batchmates... let's all do this together and be 100%!!

with love and blessings... to the
5 Facilitators + 1 Headcoach + 13 Coaches + 100+OCs + 57 New Leapers = ♥ ♥ ♥ POSIBLE+LEAP48 - reposted from Head Coach Charette! ;)

Note: I posted the picture of our class shirt which made a ruckus over at Facebook and Twitter. Everyone wanted to buy it because it's actually fab! (I got 2! will be adding more colors to my collection. Mwahahahaha). Here's a story from Head Coach Charette behind the success of these shirts... Effective shirt selling.

Happy Holidays!!

Merry Christmas!! (I know it's kinda late. And saying Happy New Year would be a bit too early). So... Happy Holidays na lang!!

WARNING: This might be a long post to make up for the weeks I haven't posted.

I know everyone is super busy with all the parties and get-together's, reunions.... because I sure was! But, I can't talk about how swamped my schedule was because that would be sooo boring. Instead let me bask about those sweet precious moments with people that matter......

It started at Cebu (Plantation Bay/Shangri-La)-Bohol with our DXN Family, the first week of December. Although I had to encounter the "Joker's of our life". I know Batman has only one Joker... and a Deck of cards only has 2. But, our family's got 4 Joker's in our life left. But the Joker's are on a different story. I had fun communing with the DXN Family at the trip. Reconnected with friends from around Pinas. Those travel seminar incentives we have are like some sort of leader's gathering/reunion. Huge. with 325 participants and was even recognized by the Mayor (government) of Cebu. :)

Then there's the get together of my HS Buds Matet and Mona. Matet is a Medical Student and they designed this "Adopt A Child For Christmas" Party.. and so we joined in on the fun. And went to the pool afterwards.

Then another dose of DXN Davao Family Pool Party on the 18th. Super Super Fun!

And then on the 21st... the bonding with the Firstborns. Which was an overnight affair. We spent most of our time on Cris's car. Talking... while the rest of the guys did their thing. Hehe. It was fun.. oooh and what a lovely moon it was!

23rd.... wedding bells were ringing. As one of the "Firstborns" got married. Awwwww. Who is next??? :)

Of course on the 24th-25th... was our the time for the biological family. They visited our home on the 24th and there were constant friends who made their annual visit. And our traditional "exchange gift". Yayyyy! Oohh the faces of the kids with their gifts was priceless.

And yesterday(26th)... we went out-of-town to visit my mom's Aunt who was the one who assisted my mom in finishing her studies when our grand parent's separated.

So... yeah... I saw most of my friends this December except my College Buds. :( But, I'm sure one of these days we will all catch up! :)

By the way.. I'd like to extend my deepest gratitude to Ms. N. for the package she sent me! Yes, she sent one of my wishlist for PM's "All I want for Christmas". :)

It's the 2011 Power Planner (Belle De Jour) over there. *points points*

And yes... it was a fun Christmas... since I finally got the set of Harry Potter series that was my High School fancy!! Grabe. Talk about delayed gratification. And mom put me to sooo much drama that time just to surprise me, I cried because I almost thought I'm not having it this year...

See ? You always get what you want... sometimes it is just not NOW. :P

Enriching Lives and Fulfilling Dreams

Recently, I was asked by DXN's Sales and Training Manager Mr. Paul to host the 11th Year Anniversary of DXN.

My heart automatically screamed yes! (It's not really a dream, but I have this penchant of trying new things and it'd be one for my bucket list.) But, then suddenly my mind was filled with doubt specially when it comes to moments when one has to come up with adlibs. Nevertheless, I said: "Wow! Walang problema. Medyo scary ha. Diba po may mga rehearsals yan?"

I immediately asked for the rehearsals since I'd be needing that because it will be my first time. And it's not some hosting stint where you will be given 500 guests but close to 10,000-12,000!!!!!!!!

And of course, I made kulit to get the script just so I have an idea. But, I only got the draft. So, I scoured for tips online which were not much really. And tried to catch one of my "DJ" friend Aron, but never got around to it.

Three days before the event, I flew to Manila for the rehearsals. There were a few mishaps about the time but nevertheless 2 days before the event, I was introduced to 2 of my co-hosts, Lory, and Roy. And a day before the event, we met Rick and Ami to complete the party of five. Sir Paul was our coach. :) The rehearsal was fun! We'd joke around and try to come up with our very own adlibs since we were free to change what was written on the script according to our personality. :P

Anyway, DXN's 11th Year Anniversary here in the Philippines last November 6, 2010 at Cuneta Astrodome was a SUCCESS!

Of course, it wasn't perfect, we were given the final script on the day of the event. But, we kind of got the idea of the flow already. But during the awarding ceremonies ,we ditched our scripts, since, our DXN director made a few changes. Major changes, that even us as "hosts" were surprised by the whole thing but managed to pull everything off.

(Mom, the Cake, Mr. Ed Hao, and Dato Dr. Lim Siow Jin (CEO))

You see, our CEO was supposed to arrive as a surprise to give the highest award which was Crown Ambassador which will be received by my Dad and Mom. But, Dad was unable to make it so it was Mom who walked down the aisle with the rest of the new Crown Diamond Awardees.

And MYYY GULAAAYY! The reaction of the people. I wonder when will I be given the full video of the whole thing..... mhmmmm

(Photo: L-R: Rick, Lory, Me, Ami and Roy)

Good camaraderie of hosts and the staff was the key to pulling everything off. And that we always focus on what needs to be done and the result in the end which was making 12,000 people happy. One good thing, they say was that there was no "dull moment" or spaced out moment because we would help each other out. Also, the A2Z Band was the besssstttt!!! Rock and Rollllll!!!

I heard it was the best DXN Anniversary! And when 3 of the hot shots were asked to rate the anniversary on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 the lowest and 10 the highest. They gave the anniversary this: 9, 10 and 10.1.

and our CEO was so enthused, he exclaimed: "We should do this every year!"

It was an amazing experience to host the anniversary. We gave our time and effort as pro bono to the company. I actually just wanted the experience and to give back to the company who helped a lot of people make their lives better and fulfilled their dreams. Including mine!

Everyone was in high spirits when it ended. And my energy kind of depleted. I wasn't able to eat that much before the show because it might send me to the bathroom in no time. Nyahaha. How about next year??? Well next year, i'll hit the backstage or be a floor manager! HAHAHA.

Congratulations to all the AWARDEES!! Next year... awardee na ako dapat! Woooo.DAPAT. Universe? Woohooo.. You listening? :)

Actually the Anniversary inspired me to do more. A lot of people in DXN, is encouraging me to do even better. I've seen people who never got a college degree, but now, they look, talk and walk like some guy with a PHD! This business made a lot of household lives better and healthier. Oh, the joy!

In this business, I call myself a social business entrepreneur. Where I am not just in this business to make money.... but I am in this business to change our "society". And it starts by helping people reach their full potential in achieving their dreams and visions for the future! It's better than just making money, right? :)

Loving 2009

It was a magical 2008. I spent my time celebrating ME... Every moment, I have chosen to always feel wonderful with ME.

and with that... I thank God - to whom I felt I have grown closer this year because I spent more time listening with the voice deep within me. A God... I see... who is very loving and was always around when I felt like there's nobody I feel safe to talk too. Whenever, I go crazy or distressed over things that often confuses me... He was always around like a light in the dark.. piercing my heart with love and melting all the worries away. To A God, a friend and a lover. Yes, a lover. My heart's bursting from all the love I never thought was possible. Yes, God. You sure showed me it's possible to experience an enchanted love. I thought, it happens to a select few only.... but you gave me a chance to experience it too - and in this world. And I know this year... I am experiencing it fully. 2008 was just the beginning.

I thank all the people who were endlessly patient with me, and who loved me unconditionally. THANK YOU, dear friends - this goes to everybody who visits my blog.... and to all those who supported me*murag Oscar's awardee*.. (you bring joy whenever I see messages from you guys). Thank you. Thank you. My endless gratitude to you guys for just BEING THERE.

2008 was a magical year. I felt sparks and saw glitters by the middle of the year. By, November another angel arrived... and another angel *that makes 2* who was a perfect gift for us.

The second angel brought everybody closer and I found what I have always yearned for - "friends.sisters who would listen to everything about me... with no judgment". Our relationship brought us to that point and I feel soooo safe with them.

This year, is LOVING 2009. If it was ME last year... I am choosing to have a WE this year. Spent a lot of time meditating about this.... although I need more time to meditate on the WE part. Haha. Ok. I know you might be lost in this post now...

but here's my LOVING 2009:

This year..... I choose to LIVE LIFE LOVINGLY.
I choose to be more AUTHENTIC to everybody.
I choose to say what is really from my HEART
I choose to Live with intention.
I choose to travel more and explore.

This year I choose to dedicate myself and every moment to my PURPOSE
I choose to support people in their journey back to LOVE.
I choose to support people around me in their WELL-BEING.
I choose to practice Wellness.

This year... I choose to bring out the best in other people.
I choose to accept people as they are and love them unconditionally.
I choose to appreciate my FRIENDS.
I choose to enjoy my journey with the people around me.

This year I choose to allow myself feel what I have deprived myself all along
I choose to share my LIFE and JUST BE with someone I love.
I choose to celebrate that experience.
I choose to create loving memories plus with magic.

This year I choose to always do WHAT I LOVE.
I choose to laugh and be care-free.
I choose to treat myself with respect.
I choose to dance in the rain... and fly like an eagle.
I choose to enjoy and be responsible for my FREEDOM.

This year I am choosing things with no regrets
I choose to nurture my mind with loving thoughts.
I choose to LIVE the MIRACLE.
I choose to trust the process called LIFE.

Because I know I am a magnificent being who can dance on any path......

May this Loving 2009 be yours as well.... I share this to everyone. =)

Love you guys!

Shipwreck

No. Nothing of the sort. No shipwrecks really.

You might ask why in the world am I blogging when I should have been enjoying the cold weather in Europe. Wait. Where is my lovely intro? I was talking to myself awhile ago -no make that making a speech about what to write. It just went right out - and now all I have to do is just remember them. *jumps up and down as she catches her bubbling thoughts*

*think think*

Ok. Here goes. *regains composure*

Cruises are meant to be special right? I mean, at least for me. Cruising is one of my ultimate desire. Not just a dream. It's a deeeh-saaay-reeee deep down inside.

And so... since cruises are meant to be special it shouldn't be spoiled with Tupperwares right? Yes. Humans who acts like Tupperwares. As mean girls would have it. - Plastics. That was harsh. But, that's what I know.

It was just quite fitting then and I call it Divine Intervention that we did not get to go with them. Simply put, our Visas were denied and the management did not even have the decency to inform us - up until the last minute.

What a shame, yes. Most people would probably be enraged by this. Specially if it is your desire going down the drain.

But for me it's actually a blessing in a horrendous - ok - I'm exaggerating na- disguise.

I was thrilled that I'm finally going to Europe and all. I was excited but - that usual "magical feeling" is missing. That's right. The magical feeling. I call that magical cause you're anticipating what will happen, what you will see and all that. Basta, it's magical.

I'll be listing the reasons why the "magical feeling" of traveling was blocked:

  1. the cold weather. I love cold weathers but not when cruising. I have this idea of cruises where you get to be on deck and you do the munimuni.
  2. the people we will be with. Part of the group would be three(3) couples which company I pretty much don't like. If it's cold and we are with them.... you'd probably be thinking that hell has frozen over or something.
  3. the baggage. travel light they say. how can you travel light when you need big coats the whole trip? And you need to change clothes in the cruise for the dinner(which would prolly require a long gown or cocktail dresses) and breakfast/lunch which requires casual formal outfit (no jeans allowed) and walking clothes for the shore excursions. Three sets in a day? And I haven't enrolled in a class called "The Art of Travelling Light".

Anyway, to make my story short. I am just grateful that we (the lucky 29) did not get to be with them for this cold trip and that we will be arranged for another trip equally the same with the first trip. But, not this year anymore. It would be next year. I'm hoping it's spring.

We found out that we got denied because when we applied no "documention" was attached. We gave all our documentation to the management. They were responsible for that. And now... There are (2) two possible reasons why it happened.:

1.) Lack of Experience / Mismanagement.

2.) Sabotage / Conspiracy.

Meaning, I can go to Yeh yeh's debut! Yahoo Yahoo! :) And yes! I am back. No scheduled trips till December. Weeeee.. :) I'll be hopping by your blogs now.

Ocean's Drowning

Random: Don't mind the title. It's not true.

It's me.

I'm drowning!

Drowning in a sea of sale books. Hehe.

It's the 65th anniversary of National Bookstore that's why their hard bound books are on sale for Php65.00. But, I reckon they were all second-hand books, but it doesn't matter it's in good condition plus it has a plastic cover (one thing book sales don't have). I convinced my parents to buy them since, it's so rare to find those books for only 65. Once we were outside NBS, I took my dad to a Book Sale and made him glance at the second-hand books they are selling and the price ranges from 150 - 500. Yes, 500!!! Grabe. Second-hand? 500? Mhmmph. I even saw my favorite author there and it's hard-bound but it's very expensive... it was for 400+. I can buy lots of books with that amount, so I ignored it.

I'm sure there are still lots of 65php hard-bound books in SM NBS. Try checking it out it's beside their magazine rack and they have other books displayed at the entertainment plaza too. Well, at least the last time I checked. I'm not sure if Gaisano NBS have the same promo.

-----------------

I really want to see Ocean's Thirteen because of Matt Damon, George Clooney, and Brad Pitt. Muwahaha. We were supposed to watch it last week but everyone's busy. I hope it's still around tomorrow and we can watch it together with Dad like we did with Ocean's Twelve. I do hope Mom would join us this time, she prefers shopping over movies and if you force her, she'd sleep inside!! Hehe. Hey, wait ......It's Father's Day tomorrow right? I wonder what I'd cook up for Dad... maybe a tribute for him?

---------------------

I need to have my own goal book. The farthest I have done... was having it online. I know it helps to have my goals online (and a lot have come to pass because of it), but it's totally different to have a goal book. I have my clear book already and it's waiting. I just need to make it!!!!

-------------------------

Instead of the usual every other WEEK exam our school made it "one exam per month". Now, that's new... but I guess I won't enjoy that much, I'm graduating... D-U-H.

------------------------

Sorry, I just can't come up with anything clear and constructed.... Oh well.

Have a great weekend!

Be an Inspiration

I was inspired to write a post about.. well.. "Inspiration". I read andianka's post about helping the people who were victims of the storm Reming.. and it reminded me of this topic that's been on my mind for months.

I believe one of the greatest gift one can give to a person is "Inspiration".

We can help people survive daily by giving them relief goods (yes, it's a big help too), some stuffs they need, aid them financially, treat them from this and that. But all that is temporary, after all that... what happens?

Don't get me wrong here ok? It's pretty much important to help them after the storm and give them exactly what they need physically and all that. And I do value and appreciate that there are people who shares and there are people who are getting all they help they need.

What I am trying to share is... that it's also great to give and live like an "Inspiration" to others as well.

It's like a kid getting sick and being treated kindly by a nurse or a doctor and she suddenly gets inspired that she wanted to be like a nurse or a doctor someday so that she could help many people as well.

It's like a kid who has been raised in a poverty-stricken place and that kid meets a person who is very much rich and yet down-to-earth who taught him or even just showed him that it does not need money to have money... and that EVERYONE has a chance to be like him and be MORE than what he is.

It's like Jesus who inspired Christians to live a righteous life (and i mean WHOLEHEARTEDLY) not for the sake of the religion but because it's how they see it fit. And just like Jesus who was an inspiration to His disciples telling everyone "yet, all this you can do and more."

It's like Mother Teresa who inspired many women (as well as men) to tend to the needy and was always sharing about world peace.

It's like Princess Diana who inspired many little girls (like me) to be strong and be a great help to the sick as well.

It's like Jose Rizal (well not the one about him being a womanizer but it could be as well) who inspired other writers to speak what is TRUE for them and was never afraid to die for the country and for what he believed in.

You see, every great person has an INSPIRATION. Every great master that lived in this planet somehow saw someone, envisioned someone that inspired them to be WHO THEY ARE and WHO THEY WANT TO BE.

and maybe even little things you do, might inspire somebody and wouldn't it be nice to hear about them becoming GREAT and achieving what they want someday just simply because one way or another he/she was inspired by something you did...

It's not about the material things that you give, but it's because you gave something to that person's soul to make him do more.

It's what everybody needs... an inspiration... to be who they want to be.

Our chief want is someone who will inspire us to be what we know we could be. -Ralph W. Emerson.

To do something, however small, to make others happier and better, is the highest ambition, the most elevating hope, which can inspire a human being -John Lubbock

This world would be a lovely place if everybody inspire each other right?

That's what leaders do...

Leaders establish the vision for the future and set the strategy for getting
there; they cause change. They motivate and inspire others to go in the right
direction and they, along with everyone else, sacrifice to get there. -John
Kotter
And of course one cannot be called a leader if he/she did not make other people leaders like himself/herself.

We all want to help each other and the best you can do is to inspire and enrich one another.

So, set out and be an inspiration to everyone. Have a great Sunday! :)

Tres

I was in Pluto's blog awhile ago and he mentioned Manny Pacquiao. I remembered a couple of things. No no no, scratch the thought I won't even mention his running for whatever-position-this-election.

I remembered Manny in my dreams. I don't know why in the world he was in my dream (maybe because yesterday my mom mentioned Manny and was asking if he is really serious about running and all that). I don't remember seeing him in my dream all I remembered was some lines that goes like this..

"Manny died..."
"What, he did? So he won't run after all?"

Stupid question. But it's a dream. I searched the net for it's meaning and here it is...

To see others dying, forebodes general ill luck to you and to your friends.

I'm not sure I saw him die... I forgot. -_- All I know was that he died there.

Next dream:
(Yes, I had a long dream. Three different dreams in one night. Another triple treat.)

All I remember was there's a mouse... a talking one that is. He was brought into a room full with books and it was placed in front of the aircon. It was left there, the mouse was an important rodent there, and we got soo busy (I don't remember who I was with) talking we forgot all about the mouse. Then we realised that we brought the mouse/rat with us and when we tried to take a look... the mouse/rat was freezing. In fact, it freezed to death.

To see lab animals in your dream, suggests that an aspect of yourself is being repressed. You feel that you are not able to fully express your desires and emotions. Alternatively, it suggests that you need to experiment with your fears, choices, and beliefs. Try not to limit yourself.

Another meaning is:

It is an unlucky dream to see domestic animals dying or in agony.

Another one:

A rat is a sign that negative influences are undermining your vitality. Dreams about rats and mice usually reflect the worries which are "gnawing" you. Seeing a rat: you will go through some unpleasant experience with other people.
Third Dream:

We were watching a movie "Annie Hall". (I did not know there was a movie like this until I searched it.) But the movie in my dream is not romantic, it's actually mortifying. It has zombies walking around while I am in the movie (yes, I'm inside the movie as well) the zombies has those stuffs you have on the hospital. I don't know what you call them. They are like from hospitals with tubes walking outside a park, street or something. It was totally freaky.

Dreaming about the living dead may carry a powerful message. If you are "walking around like a zombie," it usually means that you are emotionally disconnected from things going on around you. You may be experiencing unhealthy detachment and are unable to appropriately feel positive or negative emotions. Currently, you may be out of touch and outside of the main flow of life. This dream could positively sever you and help you to become aware of emotional issues and circumstances in daily life that are difficult to face.
Whatever it is.. I don't remember being a zombie.. it was the people around me.

Then I was in a car with my sister. She was playing with the car window attempting to open it. And I was like... "stop playing with it and don't open the window we might get infected". I was really nervous and fidgety by that time. Attempting to close the window (it's automatic so the window go up and down). Then there were soldiers beside with a big missile and they sprayed something through the window and my sister closed the window herself. I told her...

"Look, what you've done... now we are infected and I can't breathe... can you?"
"Yeah, I can.. but it's hard."

The next thing I know we were in a mall. Meeting up with Dra. Beth and the rest of my cooking class classmates. They were all there and we asked Dra. if she has some remedy. She gave us some stones and said to pound and rub it all over our skin and smell it. It felt like it was a soap and we were rubbing it. In my mind I was looking for my parents and brother for other family members, I want them to be with us. I wanted to warn them about the situation.

The whole duration of the dream I was running around the mall looking for the rest of the family members.

Whatever my dream meant it was not good. Pretty bad omen it is. I know that dreams come true when you allow them too... specially the bad ones. They just warn you about what can happen in the next few days whether you are conscious about it or not.

Basically, some of them I am really feeling specially the one about suppressed. Oh well.... We will see. I wanna change it... and I can.

The last dream... I don't know how to search for their meanings.

Monuments of Great Men

We had a certain family(couple) member who stayed in Kenya, Nairobi for six months and who stayed for two months in Germany.

They talked about how Kenya was like, that it wasn't that HOT and sunny all the time after all. Although one part which is an 8 hour drive from Nairobi, near the coast would be sooo much like Cebu, the weather that is. They talked about all the things that are feared by most they have gone through all of it and of course they talked about they've had enough and would not be coming back to really stay there.

Poverty is pretty much evident in those parts. If you've seen poverty in the Philippines, boy you've never heard far more than that than in those places. You would begin to realise that "Hey, I'm blessed after all.. I can eat 3times a day and all that."

In every poverty-stricken country you can always pinpoint that the government is corrupt. Yup, pretty much more corrupt than our country.

What is saddening about the country is the way the people live. I'll give some examples about how poor their situation is.

  • they get to eat one heavy meal a day.

  • You'd see people lying on the grass by midafternoon. You would think they are sleeping which is in fact true but the reason for their sleeping is because they are HUNGRY. They believed that they would be FULL when they lie down and get the energy of the land.

  • Rice is a luxury. It costs 180-200 pesos half kilo.

  • Girls always skip class 2-3 days a month whenever their period strikes because they have no money to buy sanitary napkins

  • Most of them walk to work because they don't have enough money to ride the Matatu (their public transpo much like our jeepneys here)

Actually, there are still more saddening information but I'm not gonna dwell on them since my post is about Monuments of Great Men.

Anyway, they stayed in Kenya for 6 months. They got a visa for Germany, actually it was a visa wherein they could travel to different countries in EU except Britain and Switzerland I think. Anyhow, they were riding an Egyptian airline for Germany. The rate of the airline is actually half of the rates compared to Lufthansa and other airline companies.

Airline: "Our rates are pretty much good right? Well, only one downside of it. It's because you won't directly go to Germany we will be stopping for a night in Cairo. Sorry for the inconvenience."

But of course, we Pinoys would definitely love a sight-seeing and it was free sooo why not?

Couple: "Would we have Visa's for that ?"
Airline:"Of course we will take care of your visa and your hotel accomodation."
Couple:"Oh ok, that would be fine."

But deep inside... one would definitely get excited.

They got the tour to see the pyramids of Egypt and the Sphinx in Giza. With all it's glory, they were awestruck. It was really a great experience they say. They saw the Sphinx and behind the Sphinx was the pyramids. The Sphinx was created in monument of men, the egyptians. Before, the Egyptians were really on top. They created the Sphinx and it symbolizes strength and power.

Behind it are the Pyramids. It's supposed to guard the pyramids, that's what they say. It's face was meant to be in honor of an Egyptian Pharoah. It has a "missing nose" and it was believed that it was broken off by a cannon ball fired by one of Napoleon's soldier.

Anyway, when you gaze in front of the Sphinx you'd be awed specially by the view behind it, which are the Pyramids. But, have you ever wondered what the Sphinx is gazing at nowadays? -_-

I have to google for the picture. Haha.

image from TrekEarth.

There you go! With all it's splendour and glory the GREAT SPHINX faces it's opponent. A chicken! Of all the fast food chain in the world... why KFC(notice the red sign of KFC)? And of all the types of chicken whyyyy should it be the "FRIED" onesss? Could it have been much better if the chicken was alive?

God really has a humor. In fact God invented humor. The Ancient Egyptians were so proud of their accomplishments before. And now...... it faces it's opponent.

They also saw the Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, and the Mercedes Benz museum. Each different monument/memoirs of great men behind it.

It actually made them realise that great men can make a monument of what they have done in the past to show to the world in the future about what they accomplished but it's just PHYSICAL. What good would a monument be ? Sure, it has it's part of being amazing (like the pyramids which were created without the use of mortar and was done mathematically right.), sure it is a reminder, but then what? What good would it be to the next generation?

Men can make monuments of their accomplishment. And you can see that behind every monument there is a great man who HAD A DREAM. A great man who wanted sooo much and nurtured that DREAM and thus in the process made itself a monument as a reminder of what he has done.

A monument is a great reminder. But, what's best is to SHARE the DREAM to the NEXT GENERATION so that they to... will learn how to LIVE THEIR own DREAM. Not just SHOW but SHARE. Not just stones and rubbles but it should be alive and with a heart that could be passed on from generation to generation.

The marble keeps merely a cold and sad memory of a man who would else be forgotten. No man who needs a monument ever ought to have one.

Hey, I'm not putting down the monuments ok? It's just that we all need more than just a monument of a great person. -_-

Examination Convos

Awhile ago, Jona, Nessa, Kath, Angie and I were talking about dreams.

And whenever a group of people talk about dreams, they usually ask about the kind of dream that made you jerk or wakes you up because you felt like falling. Why do we jerk and wake up when something like that happens? I know everyone has this kind of dream.

Now, I may have found the answer to everyone's question. I searched the internet... and here's what I found:

There is actually a term to describe what you are experiencing in your dream. It is called myclonic jerks. Many who dream that they are falling sometimes jerk or twitch their legs/arms and end up waking themselves up. There is no concrete reason as to why this happens.

One theory is that it is our instinctive response for what the brain perceives as
a potentially dangerous situation. Sometimes dreams are so real that the brain believes that you are really falling or in some sort of danger. And hence the brain sends signals to the body to start "fleeing".

According to biblical interpretations, dreams about falling have a negative overtone and suggest that man is acting and walking according to his own way of thinking and not those of the Lord.

Our school uses "proctoring" during examinations. One or two proctors are present.

More RANDOM ICST convos: EXAMINATION DAYS PART TWO

Maam Liezyl: Anyone caught cheating, automatically 5. Please take a look at them Maam Yvonne.

During examination.

Giovanne: Wala mani choice oi, kung mangopya ko singko ko. Kung dili ko mag answer singko lang gihapon ko. (*This leaves me with no choice. If I am caught cheating, I'd get 5, if I don't answer I'd get 5 too. *)
Maam Yvonne: Dawata na lang sa maayong kabubut-un (*Then accept the facts with all your heart*)
Giovanne: Pero, at least kung mangopya ko.... I've tried my best. (*But, at least if I copy.... I've tried my best*)
*CLASS LAUGHS*

Giovanne: Maam, ang ingon lang ni Maam Liezyl kay, ang mangopya. Unya kung isturya na lang namo ang answer? (*Maam, What Maam Liezyl told us, is that "if we copy". What if we just dictate our answers then?*)

Giovanne was really funny awhile ago. He'd sing while checking the answers out. And then when Maam Yvonne would catch him... he would stop and pretend he is dancing. And he would actually make the moves like an ethnic dancer and say....

"See... I'm promoting our culture...."

But at the same time... he would crane his neck along with his.. hands moving in an ethnic-kind-of-way.

I wish I could video him. I cannot take my cellphone out. *GAH*

Giovanne: Wala ma'y pulos ang kodigs nako ani oi! (*My kodigs was of no use at all!*)

Gleamore rarely goes to our class, and it is unusual to find him soo silent and answering his test paper.

Jona: Ok ni si Gleamore ah! Murag nikaon diod siya ug kalabasa. (*Wow. Gleamore is doing good, I think he ate some squash.*)

Maam Yvonne: Nangopya nasad ka ba! (*You are cheating again!*)
Giovanne: Excuse me, wala ka'y proeba na nangopya ko. (*Excuse me, You don't have a proof that I copied.*)

Giovanne: Pag mapul-an ko i-pass na man diod nako ni ba. Kapoi kaayo ba mu-timing kung kanus-a mugawas si maam or dili mutanaw, kapoy maghulat ug answer. (*If I would be fed up, I'd pass this. It's so tiring to wait for Maam to go out or not watching, and it's tiring to wait for the answers to arrive.*)
Renel: Gawas sad panagsa Maam, one minute lang. (*Maam, try going even for a minute*)
Giovanne: One minute to copy it all. That is, kung makabalik pa ka. (*
One minute to copy it all. That is, if you can go back*)
Maam Yvonne: Kay lockan ko ninyo? (*Coz you would lock me up then?*)

Maam Yvonne: Kung wala na moy answer, pwede namo mugawas. (*If you dont have any answer, you can go out.*)
Giovanne: That's life.... you must try...even if it means getting 5. Maam did you not copy your way to college?
Maam Yvonne: Nope.
Giovanne: Then your life was boring.

Giovanne passed his papers already.

Maam Yvonne: Batchoy and Karlo!!
Giovanne: Karlo akala ko mabait ka, yun pala magkadugo lang tayo.

Avy is a silent cheater! Bwahaha. Or I have not heard her talking about it. But I saw her awhile ago approaching the front wanting to get the "confiscated" photocopy of our exam when our teacher was not looking at all. But she backed out... *laughing mischievously* saying she got scared she might get caught and get 5.

The thing is... we did not get to study our Software Engineering exam. So it was a hopeless case.
That's why everyone keeps talking the whole time. :)

Unlimited Eagles

I wasn't able to post the other day.. because my inet connection was sooo slow.. or maybe there was no connection at all. I don't know what's wrong with PLDT. Is it my modem? or is it PLDT? Anyway, if this goes on.. i'd have to call them and ask.

Since i finished reading Parsifal Mosaic.. I'm starting "Corruption of Blood" by Robert K. Tatenbaum. -_-

I have 2 quizzes this friday. 2 reports were handed out. 1 is to be reported this monday.. about the Economy of the Philippines along with what is entrepreneurship.

Im not so fond with my "economics" class. I dont have any problem with the teacher.. the teacher is ok (she is new). But the subject is soo "negative". It talks about... "limited resources". My golly, if only economists knew... there is no such thing as "limited". Everything is UNLIMITED, even text messages are. It's all in the mind, humans love to "limit" themselves. You will notice that everyday.

"I can't do that, I'm JUST...." "It would take me probably 20 years to achieve that.."

They did not start yet, but they are already limiting their capabilities. Change your paradigm, from limited to unlimited. There is no such thing as IMPOSSIBLE. Everything is possible. Yes, that's an abused phrase... but it is true. Everyone acknowledges this "truth", but they don't put it to action.

Random Convos from ICST:

About GLOBE and SMART

from someone: Pag globe na lagi Jesel (Jesel, switch to Globe)
Giovan: Sige na ba, pag globe na kay mag smart naming tanan (Switch to globe and we will start using Smart.)
Jesel: Lagi, sige lang ka delay ang message sa smart (Yes ill switch, smart always have "delayed messages")
Giovan: Ok man ang Smart, kung kabalo ka mugamit (Smart is ok, if you know how to use it)
Jesel: Unsaon man daw be? (And how do you use it?)
Giovan: Dali lang na. Ioff nimo imo cellphone, kuhaon ang sim unya ibalik nasad nimo. (Easy, just turn off your cellphone, get your sim then place it back.)
Jesel: Unya mag sige na lng ug off on off on. (And then, you would always turn it off on and then off and on?)
Giovan: Aw, naa pa may lain na pama-agi.. ilabay na lang na imong cellphone (Well, there are other ways, you can always throw your phone.)

About internship. Yes, our OJT will start next term along with our THESIS 1 and everyone is getting psyched.

Johnnel: Didto na lang ta sa Pryce Tower. Naa didto si Flor (Let's apply at Pryce Tower, Flor is there)
From everyone: Nag unsa si Flor didto? (What is she doing there?)
Giovan: Floor Manager

There were a lot of things that we talked about yesterday. Most of them are funny views about this person and that person. They just made it "funny" in a way, but most of them are actually "negative" POV of people in college, that gives out promises and then.. well... i dont have to make it public.. nyahaha they might be reading this.

Last night i Had a dream.. again.. this time about an EAGLE.
Well, the last part was i saw an eagle. I cant remember the first part of the dream. Anyway, i was standing at a thin "electricty line",( im not sure.. if it was an electricity line)and then a BIG EAGLE perched beside me. I was so shocked and then all i can think of that time was "i want to take a video or a picture of the eagle". Then i went down from the electricity line, i told everyone about the eagle, and exclaimed:

"Wow! I think that eagle escaped from "Philippine Eagle". (Btw, Philippine Eagle is a place where all the eagles are taken care of.. that's where the famous.. "Pag-asa" stayed.)

The eagle went back.. and swooped down and as if showing off.

Anyway.. i again looked for the meaning, and i came up with:

*The eagle is a symbol of great wisdom and vision. As such, it is often associated as a sacred emblem that sets the dreamer apart for special uses by the Great Spirit.

- I can feel it...

*In Hebrew and Greek Literature, the eagle is a symbol of power. To dream of the eagle is to be spiritually validated as a person of great wisdom and insight concerning both this world and the spiritual realities beyond.

- Another sign..

*If the eagle is flying free, the dreamer needs to be prepared for an opportunity to soar above the mundane, either professionally or spiritually, or both.

-I am preparing... ages ago pa.

*If the eagle is perched on a tree or in a nest, someone close to the dreamer is looking out for her.

- uhmm it was perched at first... at an electrical line with me.. soo.. someone's watching over me? :P I knew that!

*Your dream depends on its details, but if the birds in your dream were flying free, it may be symbolic of spiritual, psychological, or physical freedom. An eagle is a powerful bird and the unconscious message may be prosperity, success, and liberation from tedium.

-mhmm.... amazing!

Thank you Lord, for giving me all the signs i needed. I need it. Meaning im on the right track... LOVE YOU! THANK YOU....for everything... for the wisdom and the understanding... that you impart on me.. daily. And then.. thank you for the INCREASE... and that everyone who talks to me will INCREASE too.. just the way you want it. Thy WILL BE DONE on EARTH as it is in HEAVEN.

Alas!

Alas exams are over. We have a week break.
and i have a lot of things to do...

* Read all the books i need to read, and want to read.
* Pass my requirements either tomorrow or friday.. and also enroll for the next term.
* Answer my take home sclerology exam.
* Finish my 40 eyes for PCAM accreditation.
* Organize mom's newly purchased domain/site! (courtesy of AIDWEBHOST )
* More CD's to burn.
* and of course, sleeping on time and drinking my WATER regularly.

My body reacts when i lack water/sleep, and gives me rashes/allergies and sometimes even worst they kinda "bloat".

For the past two days, my eyes would go "bloat" whenever i wake up.. and even my left hand.. it would numb then bloat. Sorry for the term "bloat" since im not sure how to describe them. And then today.. it was my LIPS.

Oh my.. i have exams and all that and i have a report. Anyway.. i placed Gano massage oil (its herbal) and even the Ganozhi Toothpaste (herbal too), and after 2 hours it wasnt "that" obvious. I cant possibly let my group down for not showing up in our final exam(we will defend our feasibility study), so being the "Anxiety-Tetanic slash Neurogenic" woman that i am, i went to college.

I was like 30 mins late for my Linear Algebra exam, but my teacher is in her usual gracious attitude and i already informed her about my sitch. So, she made me take it (i got my results it was a 97%, not bad for i was in a hurry that time).

The "bloat" in my lips wasnt that evident, and so thank God (i really declared that it wont be noticed.. and i thank you LORD!) because it wasnt evident. And i have to tell a few close friends to take a "close" look at my "kissable" lips! nyahaha..

LESSON TO BE LEARNED: Be a steward to your body, never ever take it forgranted. Practice deep breathing everyday, dont stress yourself, and always drink the ELIXIR of LIFE... WATER.

DREAMS

Literally, dreams at night.

I saw myself planting some tree in the garden with my aunt, and then i noticed my hand grew numb and then saw some worms trying to get into my SKIN! ACK!! i hate worms (yes i dont talk about what i hate.. but really.. i dislike worms.. i dont like to be near worms...), and then i panicked when i saw it trying to get inside ME. I tried to pull them out, one by one.. and oh my.. when i pulled them out, you can see blood dripping..(its like they sucked my blood) and they grew large.. ewwww.

Remembering it still sends shivers down my spine. I took them out.. and threw them away one by one, not minding the pain that seeps through. I can see myself cry.. feel myself cry.

I woke up, feeling relieved that it was just A DREAM.

Women are gifted by being "intuitive", women usually dreams a lot. Anyhow, i was so bothered about that dream, that i decided to look it up online. i /googled it.

I gathered most of them and here they are:

* To associate these characteristics with any individuals, including yourself indicates that you are seeing a very negative side of them and have a generally low opinion of them (or yourself).

The statement above is true, i saw a couple of negative side about the people around me, i wont name names. Just some thought, that some *mutters* people *mutters* are way low. And yeah ive noticed a few negative aspects of mine.

And they are a sign to change the way i look at them. And believe me, i am trying. :)

* To dream of worms, denotes that you will be oppressed by the low intriguing of disreputable persons.

This one correlates with the first meaning. And yeah i was "oppressed" the next day. Again.. i wont name names.

* Old, superstition based dream interpretations say that dreaming about worms is a warning about poor health.

My dreaming about worms, manifested also with my "massive" allergy and kinda obvious ones lately.

* For a young woman to dream they crawl on her, foretells that her aspirations will always tend to the material. If she kills or throws them off, she will shake loose from the material lethargy and seek to live in morality and spirituality.

The next meaning is just so true. Maybe, i would not admit it before, that i am also guilty about being too consumed by "material" stuffs. But all that changed months back, when i read a couple of self-help books that are really enlightening.

And today, if you take a look at my layout.. its all about life, love, happiness, serving, spirituality.. & reality and no signs of superficial stuffs. Cause its all bout LOVE AND LIFE.

Dreams have meanings... just see behind all those PICTURE LANGUAGES that your dream is trying to unravel unto you. :)

RANDOM Conversation FROM ICST (my college):

System Analysis and Design Conversation.

They are talking about yesterday, when they made their project at Jesel's crib.

Jesel: Oi kamo ba, makakita lang gani mo ug unlan matulog dayon mo. Dili mo mutabang! (hey! you guys are annoying. Whenever you see a pillow, you go to sleep right away, and would never help me)).
Jhunnel: Taka lang ka! Pag abot nako, ikaw ray natulog ug naghigda! (Lies! When i arrived, you were the one sleeping, and lying in the bed!)
Jesel: Bag-o ra ko nahuman ug type ato ba, dugay kaayo ka niabot! (I just finished typing that time! You arrived late!)
Giovan: Oi! Correction! Wala siya nihigda, nipilit si Jesel oi! (Hey! Correction! Jesel didnt lie down, she sticked to the wall!)

*just for laughs, jesel is often teased in college as a lizard. and no.. she is not offended by it, just like most of us who were also nicknamed by a couple of "unliked" rodents/animals.*

RANDOM QUOTES in ICST excerpts from the "mass message" created by JV:

*GIOVAN: if you dont give a damn to what i say, then forget about friendship! Bullsh*t!
*Maam MINA: bf, nangangati ang kamay ko pag di 21 karat (bf, my hand would have allergies if its not 21 Karat) - (as if) -
*Renel: Silence means YEZ!
*Sir Mel: Purpose driven Life
*Bee: wag kanang umiyak bee, mahal na mahal kita. (dont cry bee, i love you very much)

*toodles*
