Davao City hosts global convergence in 2013

An impressive line-up of world-renowned movers in the different spheres of society will be featured in the upcoming Liwanag World Festival on Creativity and Sustainability happening exactly a month from now. The Festival, taking place from January 29 to February 2, 2013 at the Philippine Women’s College of Davao, builds upon the outstanding achievements and reputation of the first two national Karangalan Conferences held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 2005 and 2006. Karangalan highlighted the global and national achievements of Filipinos in many areas of life. More than 5000 people, including visitors from other countries, attended these two conferences.
The Liwanag Festival is now taking this success, giving it a new context and making it relevant to the second decade of the 21st Century—providing groups and individuals a creative space and opportunity to come together and share solutions to societal problems confronting us such as climate change, poverty, conflict, unequal distribution of wealth, lack of access to quality and responsive education, lack of livelihood opportunities, inadequate shelter, poor physiological and psychological health, unsustainable development practices, cultural decline, apathy, cynicism, and more. As part of this process, the proponents decided to locate the Festival in Davao City, being a city that is moving towards sustainability, having great leadership and a good track record (e.g. known for its Gender Development Code, Children Welfare Code, Firecracker Ban, No Smoking Ordinance, our own 911 emergency system, among other trailblazing practices).
Some of the topics and speakers in Liwanag are:
“Global impact and message of the Occupy Wallstreet Movement” Seth Jordan, co-founder and co-initiator of Think Outward and Occupy Wallstreet
“Revolutionary Discoveries in the Science of the Heart and Its Relevance to Creativity and Societal Sustainability Bruce Cryer, Global Director of Heart Math Health Care, a technique created to help people decrease their stress levels and increase their quality of life.
“The New Story of the Universe and the Future of Humanity Barbara Max Hubbard, President, Foundation for Conscious Evolution
Alongside these guest speakers are Philippines’ own leaders: Maria Ressa, high profile journalist and CEO of Rappler, will elaborate on The Strategic Importance of Independent Media in Sustainable Societies. For civil society, the powerhouse group of Dr. Alyssa Peleo-Alampay, Geologist, Dr. Laura David, Oceanographer, and Dr. Cora Claudio, Environmental Scientist—members of Ten Outstanding Women in the Nations Service (TOWNS) Team on Climate Change will help participants gain a deeper understanding of Climate Change and its impact on humanity. For the economic sphere, Ms. Gina Lopez, Executive Director of ABS-CBN Foundation, will encourage participants to follow their example in Mobilizing Business to Defend Nature; Mr. Tony Meloto, Founder of GK-Center for Social Innovation will likewise share how they Reinvented Philippine Agriculture through Social Enterprise. For the cultural sphere, Surallah Mayor Romulo Solivio, with Sculptor-Artist Kublai Millan, will share their experience onGovernment and Civil Society partnerships for the Rebirth of Culture.
Most importantly, a multi-stakeholder panel from Bayawan City will present Character First: The Liwanag Anchor of Bayawan City's Journey to Sustainability. Bayawan City, two hours away from Dumaguete,  Negros Oriental, boasts the title of being a “Character City,” a member of the International Association of Character Cities and a pioneer Department of Health certified “Healthy City” in the Philippines. Recently, it was recognized by the Asian Institute of Management city as “one of the Top 10 Best Cities to Live In in the Philippines (Small Cities Category)” under its Competitive Cities Survey 2007.
With this festival, the proponents want to emphasize that creativity and sustainability initiatives are alive, healthy and well, not only in Davao City but also in other parts of the country, and, of course, the world. Aside from the plenary presentations, hundreds of pre-registered as well as spontaneous parallel creative workshops, performances and exhibits will be taking place during the entire week, featuring participating individuals and initiatives with inspiring and innovative solutions to current challenges; local, national and international artists such as Joey Ayala (who also composed and performed the official Liwanag Festival theme song); ritualists from different tribes of Mindanao; Bayang Barrios; the Talaandig Artists of Bukidnon; performing artist-activist Juana Change; Sampsa Pirtola from Europe; Hinuguyaw Cultral Dance Troupe; Kaliwat Theatre Collective; Madayaw Cultural Troupe; Bayanihan Dancers, and other surprise artists.

“Two faces of the Philippines, two faces of the world mirrored in two forms of life. On one side, dense darkness amidst suffering and strivings. But on the distant road ahead are pulsing balls of light, like torches blazing trails of Hope – initiatives of some groups of humans in vigil for the herald of a new tomorrow. Brothers and Sisters, Let us glory on these strivings to change the face of the World.”

-The essence of Liwanag Festival on Sustainability and Creativity, as captured in words by Davao-based Palanca awardee Don Pagusara

Liwanag World Festival is initiated by the Movement of Imaginals for Sustainable Societies through Initiatives, Organizing and Networking (www.imaginalmission.net), supported by the Lifebank Foundation, Inc. a microfinance institution providing financial opportunities for the poor, specifically women. For more details about Liwanag World Festival and how to join, log on to www.liwanagworldfest.net. You may also contact Liwanag Secretariat through email: lwfdavao@gmail.com, landline: +6382.286.726, or visit us at: Door A6 2nd Floor, Lakitan Mall San Pedro St., Davao City, Phils. Biography Workshop in Davao

Dearest Family and Friends,

To those who will be in Davao City on April 2 - April 3, 2012.... I'm inviting you to join us in a 2 day Life Review Retreat.... (it's a bummer that it's a weekday... but so far we got confirmations who will be there despite work.... most of them taking leaves or just plain absent... for those who just graduated... it's the perfect time!) Woohoo!

I'm excited since I will be taking the workshop for the first time. This will ground me for the World Festival we plan to create by year 2013! (and we are planning as we speak).

We all know what we want, what we don't want, our irks and quirks..... but do we really know what we are meant to DO?

What is the Workshop about?

To become more conscious of our purpose, to come very close and reach our highest possibilities.

What's the process?

Through a guided methodological reflection on our life, we can awaken to our deepest striving. You will be guided to uncover the deep patterns in your life to help awaken the deepest intentions that you have been carrying with you. The way your life, with all its struggles and achievements, has unfolded through time contains the key to understanding your past and provides an important foundation for recognizing your life task. When you discover this, you will unlock incredible new life horizons that can be of tremendous benefit to yourself, as well as to others and to your world.

So yeah.... if you are joining...

WELL..... SEE YOU THIS MONDAY!!!!

With this I leave you with something that Mitch Albom said:

The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.

JULIO

July July!

It's amazing the month isn't over yet!!!

This month is sooo jam-packed.

I have been so engrossed being actively engaged in some events that would soon pave way to a wonderful society.

I joined a workshop facilitated by Mr. Nicanor Perlas when July started. And from that workshop we came up with "Cycle for Life". Actually, there's a biking event in Davao done once a year by The FORCE (bicycle enthusiasts) and it is also to promote the bicycle city ordinance we have in Davao. Good thing, with the workshop was Tito Leo Avila who was a former councilor who is actively involved in different environment groups and he still has the connections to continue the said activity. And he realized everyone was just waiting for him to call for action even if he is not in office anymore. And with that taken care of we set off to plan the event.

Aside from that, I am currently the secretary of Rotaract Club of Munting Pag-Asa Davao which means more responsibility and more chances of being actively involved in transforming our society.

One of my friends organized the Davao Live Aid Concert for the flash flood victims...... and we had our own relief operations and created the group Tribu Pagkakaisa, where I experienced synchronicity. How God sure gives the desires of the people.

I have been to three cities in Northern Mindanao the past week, Iligan, CDO and Butuan with mom to spread love.

I feel that times are really changing nowadays. And I am beginning to see the fruits of the Light Workers. The people I am with right now are really the people that I have been looking for a long time ago. Plus, I even dragged a friend in the move..... now she's taking LEAP!!! For the TIME OF HER LIFE!!!

For current events the one thing that can make me super duper incensed last week was the "negative" reports from this certain A BIASED SCBN media company about our City Mayor Sara Duterte. I would say over and over again that violence is the last option.... but then if your children are about to be killed.. wouldn't you do something to protect them? That event made me wonder how weird people can be.... they are quick to judge the Mayor for protecting people but are mum about larger deception especially when it comes to the family owning and monopolizing most of the properties of Pinas. But sheeshhh..... shift shift shift Tina... "I choose to Love......"

I am overwhelmed that many spiritual leaders are also taking their own Leap of Faith.... let's not talk about those who are on "the dark forces" okay? Only those who have been actively participating to spread love and oneness, like Bishop Tutu who always inspires me.

I just can't wait for great things to happen specially in the coming months. The dark forces are losing their power.... as more and more people are awaken to each of their true BEING... that we are LOVE and Light. The people responsible for the LOSE-WIN percentage... which keeps 2% of the world population on top and the 98% below, are losing their power.... times are changing and the numbers to the right distribution of wealth is slowly happening.

Do not lose faith...... Mother Earth will continue it's cleansing.... Stay grounded.... Stay heart-centered..... so you wouldn't be affected by the coming changes.

I am more than positive.... I am enthused, excited, inspired by the coming of something super duper great! Every LightWorker is doing their job and I am just amazed I am part of it specially in taking care of the environment..... The only thing we need to do... is to come together... doing it together .... doing it en masse.

Life sure has many reasons to celebrate...... if you are still having it an emo day..... CELEBRATE!!! Celebrate that all negative emotions are beginning to get out of your system. Celebrate!!!

Loving you all,

Tin

FLEX Orientation

6 months ago I took FLEX (Foundations of Leadership Excellence).

FLEX is a two-day workshop where you can learn about the fundamental principles of leadership, success and peak performance. Our goal is to bring out the leader in you: your empowered Self that is responsible for the choices you make, and is committed to personal growth as well as the growth of those around you. FLEX will heighten your awareness of the negative belief systems that hinder you from actualizing your highest possibilities, and provide you with options, tools and techniques to shift those paradigms. When this shift occurs, ordinary people begin producing extraordinary results.

This training allowed me to be more forgiving about other people, to understand myself and also understand others... know where they may be coming from... and also thinking out of the box where all the answers lie!

Since then, I have embarked on a journey with "a world that works with no one left out".

Now, I am inviting you to this journey.... with a loving community....

From what I heard.. one of Manny Pacquiao's secret to success revealed at one of the interviews aside from his unwavering faith and humility was that he surrounds himself with positive people.

Here is your chance to build a community of positive people with dreams for Philippines and the future..... in whatever arena you may be.....

This is a video my batchmates of LEAP 48 POSIBLE + made inviting you of our upcoming workshop this May 21-22.....

Save the dates!

FREE ORIENTATION

on MAY 11 and MAY 18. 7pm.
OCCI 6thFloor, Emerald Building, Ortigas Jr. Road.

Just say, with love... Kristina Suelto invited you to join a life-changing workshop. :)

Here in Davao.. we are still coming up with a plan whether we would have an orientation or not.

But our FLEX schedule in Davao would be on May 21-22, 2011.

So... see you there and the grander version of you!!!

You can share this video to someone who needs it.... and holla at me over at Facebook or drop an email that you are joining the free orientation and have you listed.

Have a wonderful week!!! :)
